Alas, my friends, salon fair has come and gone!
I'm very pleased with the results! My model, Shelby, and I won third place with our 80's themed look. I didn't get a definite lead on any jobs, but I did meet an interesting fellow named Francisco. He owns a salon in Corpus Christi named Francisco's Salon, and it seems right up my alley. He came and taught a color/cutting class on Tuesday and got me so excited about my future! Definitely an inspiration to everyone. Anyway, I gave him my resume and business card, and was encouraged to go visit the salon that he's opening on south congress to hang out and set up a formal interview. I'll give more details on how that goes when the salon opens in December! You can find more about him here.
Now for the exciting stuff.. my finished look for salon fair!
First, I colored Shelby's hair and put a few panels of blonde in it. Then, Shelby and I made her costume using a tutu bought from the halloween section at walmart, some purple and black tulle, a black shirt that we cut the neckline and back out of, and some ribbon. That took us about five hours last night altogether. Today, we went to school and I styled her hair and the rest is history! Here are some photos of where my inspiration came from and the final product.

Well that's all I have for today, loves. It's been an exhausting week, but I believe it has all paid off. More pictures can be found on my facebook!
Until next time,
-the fickle chicken.
